The most destructive year ever recorded in history. By September 5th, more than 6132 fires were active in canada
Wild fires torched a staggering 16.5 million hectares of land. To put that in perspective, that’s an area larger than Greece.
Unlike previous years, the fires this year were widespread across the country. By mid-July, there were 29 mega-fires, each exceeding 100,000 hectares.
